Jonathan Ives: Take note

Posted in Uncategorized on August 4th, 2007

While trolling through Digg’s top hits today, I came across this fan created video of what the much-rumored “new iMac” (1, 2, 3) might look like. Although it samples almost directly from the existing iPhone design, including the matte black lower 1/5, I have to say it is one of the best looking computers I’ve seen in recent times.

I’m not sure how I feel about the closed loop at the back of the device, but this guy obviously has a future in advertising. His phrasing, music choice, and edit timing is dead on. And to think that he completed the entire 3d model in 3 days simply to fill out his reel. Very, very impressive. Seeing this reminds me of the iPhone mockup competition that so many of the fansites during the 2-years of speculation about the device. I honestly think that Apple should consider hiring this guy if they can afford him. While trolling through the Digg story submitter’s profile, I found a couple other cool iMac mockups including this bad boy by “kromekat”:

Although the fanboys keeping track already know this, the new iMac (which hasn’t been refreshed since the current design was released almost 3 years ago) will feature a brushed aluminum exterior, and a totally redesigned keyboard similar to that which is featured on the Macbook.

Engadget claims to have received spy pictures from a Hong Kong message board. This is supposedly the future standard apple keyboard:
