Moola.com - First to 10 million buys dinner

Moola.com calls itself “the web’s first ‘AdverTournament’.” This essentially means that its users compete against each other in fun games for free money, at no cost to themselves. Pretty cool, huh?

Currently in private beta, Moola introduces itself as “something like a free super-jackpot game show, which allows anyone to become a millionaire on the internet, rather than watching others do so on TV. Similar to a TV game show, Moola is free and relies on sponsors to enable millions of people to vie for serious amounts of cash and prizes. The method used to facilitate competition is simple yet powerful: Sponsors give small amounts of money to millions of people, and then Moola allows those people to compete against one another so that individuals may win more or less, depending on how well they compete.”

While the service is an evolution of the “sign up for another service, get money here” get-rich-quick sites, the introduction of addictive games (no really, they are video poker grade fun), and interactive advertising is a refreshing clean take on the genre. Plus, users stand absolutely no chance of losing money, being gifted 1 cent upon sign-up, and being able to cash out at 10 dollars and up. Plus, by using their search engine daily, you get a run at a wheel-of-fortune style spinner handing out free money, and credits for all the users who sign-up under your referral id!

From an advertising standpoint, it is pretty damn brilliant. By asking context related questions, they are able to provide advertisers with a “100% guarantee that messages are watched, retained and/or understood by audiences” adding in that “Moola can guarantee that ads will not be skipped over or ignored. If they are, advertisers do not pay.” As far as I’m concerned, this is the future of advertising. New services like Joost and ABC’s streaming players over pseudo-interactive online advertising blended with premium content, and it only makes sense that the industry will head in this direction.
